This candy pot with lid has a very poetic pictorial design. It is thought to be from the Meiji period.

The red painting is typical of Kutani, but the way of expression of the design, which is different from that of today, gives us a more narrative feeling. The gentle touch of the brush looks a little Western.

The peony flowers and birds are vividly depicted not only on the front, but also on the back of the lid and inside the bowl, making this a very lovely piece.

Size: 12 cm (diameter) x 8.5 cm (height including lid)
